On the occasion of the 700th founding anniversary
of Thuận Hoá–Phú Xuân–Huế and Festival Huế 2006, the International
Nôm Conference Organizing Committee invites scholars, researchers,
consultants, and other experts to submit original and unpublished
works conveying innovations, ideas, software solutions, multidisciplinary
problems, position papers, field studies, case studies, etc., in
areas of Hán Nôm studies.
The

chữ Nôm—history of the origin, formation, and development of chữ
Nôm, script type, functions of chữ Nôm, its cultural significance,
problems of chữ Nôm text studies, etc.
- chữ Nôm researches
related to Huế culture, and
- problems in the popularization,
use, and teaching chữ Nôm. Problems in building a standardized
Hán Nôm character repertoire and Hán Nôm electronic web archives.
In addition, a pre-conference
Tutorial Day on May 31, 2006 includes training workshops on chữ
Nôm calligraphy and IT techniques as support for chữ Nôm research
and education projects for the public.
All are invited to organize
panels or invited sessions. Panel sessions will include participants
from IT, linguistics, and the social sciences as well as chữ Nôm
researchers and scholars. Corporations, publishers, archives, museums
